Fiji vs Evian: origin, labels and a practical choice

Compare Fiji and Evian source countries, US product descriptions and report limits, with a practical way to compare bottles and local prices.

The short answer

For everyday buying, choose the plain still water you enjoy, in a bottle size and price that suit you. FIJI comes from an artesian source in Fiji; Evian comes from Cachat Spring in France, according to their makers. The sources reviewed here do not show a health advantage for either brand.

Fiji and France: where the water comes from

FIJI describes an artesian aquifer in Fiji. Evian names Cachat Spring in the French Alps; its German FAQ confirms the spring is in France. These countries describe the water's source, so they are the useful places to look for on a source-country map.

You may see Evian called natural spring water in the US and natural mineral water in German materials. Both descriptions appear on the brand's own pages. Check the bottle sold where you live before comparing the wording; this table uses the US names.

Build a comparison from the bottle in front of you

Put the bottles side by side and start with the full names and volumes. Are both plain still water? Are you looking at the same products as the online pages? Save the matching page or report if you want to compare more than the price and packaging.

For minerals, copy each named mineral, its unit and the report year. Compare calcium with calcium, for example. Leave a blank if a result is missing instead of treating it as zero. We have not checked a matching set of lab results for these two products, so this table leaves out mineral amounts and pH numbers.

Use the report when you have a specific question

Evian's US report page lists 2025 reports, including a California version. Open the report that matches your market and look for the detail you need. Check its year and product coverage before using a result from it. The page belongs to the manufacturer; it is not an independent review of both brands.

FDA's bottled-water guidance covers contaminants and production conditions as well as water names. If you are concerned about a particular substance, look for that result in the relevant report. A picture of the source cannot answer that question, and a taste preference cannot settle it either.

Choose for the situation and your budget

For a commute, check whether the bottle fits your bag and how much you want to carry. For a shared table, compare the larger formats available at your shop. If you already have a bottle you like, use it as the starting point: what would make the other one worth buying for you?

For value, divide the pack price by the total litres. Include delivery if you will pay it, and compare prices on the same date in one currency. For taste, try a small quantity before ordering a case. You can pour both into similar glasses at the same temperature and write down which you prefer.

Common questions

Is Fiji or Evian healthier?

The sources here do not establish a health winner. If you have prescribed fluid or mineral limits, ask your care team what to check on the bottle or report.

Does this comparison verify every bottle's safety?

No. It is an editorial comparison of public information. It contains no batch testing, independent contaminant comparison or certification of the bottle you buy.
