Why this smoothie works

  • Fresh cucumber and mint flavour
  • Serve strained or with the blended pulp
  • Add water gradually to suit your preferred texture

Ingredients

2 servings

The method

Blend, strain & pour.

Use the blender method below for a refreshing green juice. Straining is a texture choice: leave the pulp in if you prefer more body.

0 / 4 done
  1. Chop the fresh produce

Rinse the cucumber, celery, apple and mint. Core the apple, peel the lemon and remove visible seeds. Chop the produce and ginger into small pieces, cutting celery across its strings.

Your cue: Short celery pieces help prevent long fibres in the finished drink.

  2. Blend · about 60 sec

    Blend with cold water

Pour the measured water into the jug, then add the chopped produce and mint. Secure the lid, start low and blend for about 60 seconds, until no large pieces remain.

Your cue: The mixture should circulate freely and look evenly green.

  3. Choose your texture

For a lighter juice, pour through a fine sieve or clean nut-milk bag into a jug. Press gently to extract the liquid. Skip straining if you enjoy a fuller, pulpy drink.

Your cue: A little fine sediment is normal even after straining.

  4. Pour while chilled

Stir and pour into a glass. If using a juicer instead, follow its loading instructions, feed the prepared produce through it and omit the blender-only water. Refrigerate any unused juice promptly in a covered container.

Your cue: The juicer and blender routes are alternatives; you do not need to do both.

The finish line

Here’s what you’re aiming for.

Light, minty and pourable; strained juice is thinner, while an unstrained version keeps more pulp.

Blending times are starting points; use the texture cues and your blender’s instructions. Loading order is for a typical upright jug. Switch off before scraping or tasting, and never put utensils into moving blades.

Pro tips

  • Leave the cucumber skin on for extra fiber in the blender version.
  • Add a pinch of sea salt to replace electrolytes after a workout.
