Raspberry Oat Fibre Smoothie
Tart raspberries, oats and plain Greek yogurt make a spoon-creamy smoothie with about 10 g fibre. Includes blending cues and a thinner-texture option.
Illustrative recipe imageWhy this smoothie works
- About 10 g fibre from raspberries and oats
- Approximately 21 g protein with the listed yogurt
- No added sweetener in the starting recipe
Ingredients
1 serving- 1 cup (123 g)raspberries, Fresh or prepared according to frozen package instructions
- 1/4 cup (20 g)rolled oats
- 3/4 cup (170 g)plain non-fat Greek yogurt
- 3/4 cupcold water
- 1/2 tspvanilla extract
The method
Let’s blend this.
A short first blend breaks down the oats before the berries go in. Raspberry seeds stay in the drink; they are part of its naturally textured finish.

20 seconds
Give the oats a head start
Pour the cold water into the jug, add the rolled oats and secure the lid. Blend for about 20 seconds to break up the flakes.
Your cue: The water should turn cloudy, with much smaller oat flecks.
Layer in the creamy ingredients
Stop the blender. Spoon in the yogurt, add the vanilla and put the raspberries on top. Use a spatula to release any yogurt stuck around the top of the jug.
Your cue: Keep the yogurt and berries within reach of the liquid, not packed tightly above it.
35–50 seconds
Blend into a pink swirl
Replace the lid and blend for 35–50 seconds. Switch off before checking the sides; scrape down once if needed, then blend briefly again.
Your cue: The colour should be evenly pink, with no whole berries or large oat flakes.
Choose spoonable or sippable
Taste a small spoonful. For a thinner drink, blend in one tablespoon of water at a time. Keep the raspberry pulp in the glass if you want the fibre reflected in the estimate.
Your cue: Expect tiny seeds and fine oat texture, with a creamy yogurt base.
The finish line
Here’s what you’re aiming for.
Pour and enjoy while freshly blended. Oats thicken as they stand, so stir in a little water if the smoothie waits on the counter.
Too thick, thin or grainy?Blending times are starting points; use the texture cues and your blender’s instructions. Loading order is for a typical upright jug. Switch off before scraping or tasting, and never put utensils into moving blades.
Pro tips
- Contains milk. For a gluten-free version use certified gluten-free oats and check all labels.
- If you are increasing fibre, a smaller serving may be more comfortable. A high-fibre smoothie is not appropriate for every prescribed diet.
- This is tart rather than dessert-sweet. Sweeteners or extra fruit change the nutrition and are not included in the estimate.
Frequently asked questions
It is a food idea, not a treatment. Fibre type and amount affect people differently. Persistent symptoms or a digestive condition need individual advice.
