  1. Start with cold coffee

Use chilled cold brew or the decaf alternative. Measure the almond milk, yogurt, hemp seeds and cinnamon using the quantities above.

Your cue: Do not add hot coffee to a closed blender jug.

  2. Load the jug

Pour in coffee and almond milk, followed by yogurt, hemp seeds and cinnamon. Secure the lid and begin on a low speed.

Your cue: The yogurt should sit in the liquid rather than remain stuck above it.

  3. Blend · 30–45 sec

    Blend the seeds through

Increase the speed and blend for about 30–45 seconds. Stop and check the texture, then blend briefly again if coarse seed pieces remain.

Your cue: Fine flecks are normal, but the drink should not feel gritty.

  4. Rest · a few seconds

    Let the froth settle

Switch off and allow the foam to settle briefly. Taste with a spoon and pour into a chilled glass. Stir if the cinnamon settles before you finish.

Your cue: A light foam cap and subtle seed texture are expected.

The finish line

Here’s what you’re aiming for.

A chilled, lightly frothy coffee smoothie with fine hemp-seed flecks.

Too thick, thin or grainy?

Blending times are starting points; use the texture cues and your blender’s instructions. Loading order is for a typical upright jug. Switch off before scraping or tasting, and never put utensils into moving blades.
