Illustrative recipe imageWhy this smoothie works
- Mango and pineapple create the main flavour
- Turmeric adds colour and earthiness
- Ginger can be adjusted for a milder finish
Ingredients
1 serving- 1 cupfrozen pineapple
- 1/2 cupfrozen mango
- 1 tspground turmeric
- 1 tspfresh ginger, grated
- 1 tbspcoconut cream
- 1 cupcoconut water
- pinchblack pepper
The method
Let’s blend this.
Keep the frozen fruit in small pieces and distribute the spices in the liquid for a smooth tropical blend.

Prepare the frozen fruit
Separate the pineapple and mango pieces. Grate the ginger finely and measure the turmeric and pepper. Stir the coconut cream in its container if it has separated, then measure your portion.
Your cue: Use small fruit pieces your blender can handle.
Build the base
Add coconut water, coconut cream, ginger, turmeric and pepper to the jug. Add the frozen fruit last and secure the lid.
Your cue: The spices should be in contact with liquid rather than resting dry on the lid.
Blend · about 45 sec
Blend to an even gold
Start on low and gradually increase the speed. Blend for about 45 seconds, stopping to check for pineapple fibres and frozen pieces. Add a splash of coconut water if circulation stalls.
Your cue: The mixture should move steadily, with no separate white streaks of coconut cream.
Finish without extra powder
Taste with the blender switched off and pour into a glass. Serve as it is; extra dry turmeric on top can leave a gritty mouthful.
Your cue: Expect a smooth pour with occasional fine pineapple fibres.
The finish line
Here’s what you’re aiming for.
A sunny yellow smoothie with a creamy pour and a gentle ginger-turmeric finish.
Too thick, thin or grainy?Blending times are starting points; use the texture cues and your blender’s instructions. Loading order is for a typical upright jug. Switch off before scraping or tasting, and never put utensils into moving blades.
Pro tips
